Selling in Panama has unique rules: ITBMS 7% tax, mandatory DGI e-invoicing, integration with Banco General, Banistmo and Caja de Ahorros, plus the new Yappy standard for mobile payments. A generic POS imported from Mexico or Spain likely does not comply with DGI.

5. Mistakes to avoid

Don't buy a legacy POS that only runs on one computer — you need cloud sync so you can see sales from your phone.
Don't accept long contracts without a trial — ask for 14 free days minimum.
Don't get sold a closed system that doesn't export CSV — one day you'll want to migrate.
